An interactive platform for locals in the Wilmington area who are desiring to connect with others through a healthier lifestyle. Running more than just an events calendar – it’s fostering a community of locals through wellness groups from around the region.
How does the platform work?
- Users will have the choice to register for an account or log in directly from the main page.
- After creating an account, you must confirm your email to complete the registration process.
- From your calendar page, you can keep track of the events you plan on attending or add new ones.
- Other features of the platform includes direct messaging other members on the website, and getting informed from blog and podcast content
- From there the fun begins, once you are on the site you are then able to customize your profile and join a host of groups focused on creating community through wellness. Each group has its own calendar view and discussion page, however you can quickly communicate with all of your groups conveniently from your activity feed!
Note: you are able to view the main activity feed page without registering!
The Process
The thought process behind this platform or website began with a challenge: how can Wilmington locals promote meaningful relationships and community through healthy activities? Recognizing that there was a problem to be solved, I began to envision how the website would perform both visually and functionally.
- Phase One: curating a mood board, conducting a survey, generating wireframes in Figma, creating a logo and color scheme to serve as the foundation for the website, and registering a hosting account and domain
- Phase Two: researching tutorials, establishing a foundation for the website by creating a menu and rough draft of all the pages within WordPress
- Phase Three: trial and error by slowly developing and revising each page until it suited my vision for the site as well as the main mission for the site
Research Phase
To better understand my user’s I…
- Conducted a Qualtrics survey from scratch. I had to learn how to extract the data I received (through charts or graphs) to better understand my users
- Did extensive research to get an idea of what I wanted to implement for the user interface, and this helped me develop a mood board
Project Mood Board
Execution Phase
- After launching the site, I received user feedback and began refining the site so that it is not only visually appealing but also solves my initial problem: how can people establish community and relationships through healthier activities?
- As the website develops and flourishes, the cycle of revision will continue
